Lakme peach milk moisturizer claims to nourish the skin deeply without making it appear oily. This light moisturizer easily absorbs into the skin to lock moisture for 12 hours to give soft, smooth and glowing skin. For best results – use every day for nourished skin that glows.

Below we did a detailed ingredient analysis of Lakme peach milk moisturizer and found that it contains a lot of skin sensitizing, comedogenic and allergy-causing ingredients so oily skin types and sensitive skin types should definitely avoid this cream. For dry skin since it’s a light moisturizer, it may not give enough hydration to your skin.

Ingredient analysis

the good

Glycerin

It’s a hydrating agent. Glycerin is one of the best moisturising ingredients because of its strong humectant(preserving or retaining moisture) properties. It is known to improve the skin barrier as well as skin penetration of some other ingredients. Although in this moisturiser it’s far down the ingredient list.

Lactic acid

It helps in skin hydration and makes the skin look smooth and fresh.

tocopherol

It has antioxidant, moisturising, and ageing properties.

panthenol

Helps in the moisturisation of the skin.

Nonfat Dry Milk (Sine Adipe Lac)

dry milk contains Lactic Acid that helps to smooth out skin texture.

Prunus Persica (Peach) Kernel Oil

It smoothes and hydrates the skin. Although it is mildly comedogenic.

Another good thing about this is it is affordable

the bad

perfumes

It contains perfumes and so many of them are also labelled as fragrance/parfum in products. perfume contains 30 to 50 chemicals on average but it can have up to 200 ingredients. Why is this bad? It’s the number 1 cause of contact allergy to cosmetics, it can cause skin irritation and sensitivity. Some of the harmful perfuming ingredients in these products are:

  • Butylphenyl Methylpropional – its a known fragrance allergen and is banned in the EU.
  • Linalool – its a common fragrance ingredient. It oxidises when exposed to air and becomes allergenic which means a product containing linalool that has been opened for several months is more likely to be allergenic than a fresh one.
  • Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone -a common fragrance ingredient has allergen potential as well.
  • Citronellol – again a common fragrance ingredient that can cause contact dermatitis. So avoid it if you are allergic to perfumes.

Potential Acne causing ingredients

  • Cetyl alcohol
  • Hydrogenated Castor Oil
  • Glyceryl Stearate
  • Ci 17200

Paraffinum Liquidum – It is commonly known as mineral oil. It does not clog pores but it can trap other ingredients, sweat, and dead skin cells closer to the skin which can lead to breakouts.

My experience with Lakme peach milk moisturiser

My skin type is dry, I rarely get breakouts and most ingredients do not irritate my skin now earlier my skin used to be oily and sensitive but after my dermatologist put me through isotretinoin for six months, my skin has become a lot dry since the past 3 years and my acne haven’t returned either.

This moisturiser have have a light texture, it easily spreads and absorbs into the skin. The fragrance is really strong which I do not like. It did not feel sticky on my skin and kept it moisturised for about 5 to 6 hours.

So will I buy this moisturiser again? My answer is not because my skin is dry it indicates a broken skin barrier and this moisturiser doesn’t contain many barrier healing ingredients on top of that it contains fragrances and too many of them which studies show that they cause skin allergy, irritation and break our skin barrier. For this reason, I do not suggest Lakme peach milk moisturiser for dry skin.

I would give this moisturiser 2/5

Is lakme peach milk moisturizer good for oily skin

Oily skin should not use this moisturiser because it contains a lot of potential acne-causing ingredients which can make your skin break out more.

Should combination skin type use Lakme peach milk moisturiser?

Combination skin that is oily on the t-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry on the sides i.e., cheeks should not use this moisturiser because in the oily part there is excess sebum (our skin’s natural oil) which works as an occlusive so in oily skin we do not need occlusive moisturiser and this moisturiser contains Paraffinum Liquidum also known as mineral oil which also works as an occlusive on top of that a number acne-causing ingredients might cause breakouts in your skin.

for the oily part of your face, it does not have enough barrier healing ingredients and a lot of ingredients that might cause further damage, so I do not recommend it for combination skin.

Is Lakme peach milk suitable for sensitive skin types?

Sensitive skin is a result of the damaged skin barrier and this moisturiser contains a lot of skin sensitising ingredients I do not recommend it for sensitive skin types.

Should normal skin types use Lakme peach milk moisturiser?

Normal skin types do not suffer from skin dryness or excessive oiliness, pimples are rare, and the skin can tolerate most ingredients which is a blessing. For normal skin there are definitely better alternatives in the market because as mentioned above this moisturizer has ingredients that can cause irritation and allergy, and damage our skin barrier, the only pro of this moisturiser is that it is cheap.
